If exercise is not your thing or you cannot be regular at it, then the Ana Boot Camp diet (ABC diet) might just be the perfect diet plan for. Let us take a look at the details of what this “extreme weight loss” diet plan is all about.

What is ABC diet ?

The Ana Boot Camp (ABC) diet promotes weight loss through severe calorie restriction and anorexia. In its literal meaning, Ana Boot Camp refers to a “boot camp” for anorexics (Ana, or Pro-ana). The ABC diet (also called Pro-ana, as in pro-anorexia) involves a pro-anorexia regimen to help an individual lose weight. The diet plan basically promotes the idea that anorexia is a choice and not particularly a disorder.

The ABC diet plan for weight loss works through the simple idea of restricting an individual’s calorie intake for a certain number of days. The diet plan is based on the principle that an individual’s metabolism can be tricked by consuming various levels of calories each day.

ABC Diet Plan

The Ana Boot Camp or ABC diet is a 50-day diet plan that slows down the metabolism of the body to its most extreme state. According to experts, the ABC diet can be followed by plotting the amount of required calorie intake on a chart.

First Week

During the first week of the diet, an individual needs to consume a maximum of 500 calories in the first couple of days. The maximum calorie to be consumed then decreases to 300, 400, 100, 200 and 300 respectively on the succeeding days of the first week.

Second Week

During the second week of the diet, the calorie intake cannot exceed a maximum of 400 & 500 calories on the first two days. On the third day of the second week, the person on this diet would be completely fasting. On the fourth and fifth day, they will consume 200 and 100 calories respectively. There will be fasting again on the 6th day and a consumption of 300 calories on the last day of the week.

The calorie ceiling and fasting days generally differ in the remaining weeks. On the 2nd day of Week 8, the individual must slowly resume their normal diet.

ABC Diet Rules

Along with that, other rules to follow while you are on the diet are:

  • Consumption of alcohol limited to dry wine, martini and whiskey only.
  • Avoid intense physical activities and work out.
  • Eat meals in small portions. You can divide the food consumption into 5 to 6 small meals a day.
  • Protein rich food like fish or meat is preferable.
  • Do not sleep immediately after your last meal.

ABC Diet Results

The primary reason to opt for the ABC diet plan is to lose weight very quickly, almost instantaneously. People who are overweight or obese go on this meal plan as it supports rapid burning of calories and quick loss of weight. The diet plan works by stimulating an individual’s body to use the fat stored in the body to produce energy.

Although, the ABC diet is effective but not for a long period of time. Once you resume the normal caloric intake, the results may disappear. You will definitely see fast results but maintaining your new weight is the real challenge.

Modified ABC Diet

While the regular ABC diet is considered to be “an extreme weight loss” diet, it might not be possible or feasible for everyone to follow this diet. To make the diet plan a little easier for people like these, there are different opinions on how the Ana Boot Camp diet plan is modified. Generally, a modified ABC diet would include 300-400 calories addition on the regular calorie intake mandated.
